What a Church truly believes shapes its life.
At The Link some of our values are
- The Lordship of Christ individually and corporately
This is central to everything we are and do. Our loyalty is to Him not denomination, tradition or societal pressures. We are a Theocracy not a Democracy. We do not function by the vote but seek the unity of the Spirit in our decision making.
This highlights for us the need for the Word, prayer and the leading of the Spirit
- Worship
Worship is more than the songs we sing in a Sunday service. It is a lifestyle that reflects God’s heart and love. The most mundane tasks we do can be worship to God when we do it in an attitude of service for him. Worship is more than something we do, it is the attitude that should colour our thoughts and direct our actions.
- The manifest presence of God in everything we do
In our meeting patterns e.g. worship, preaching etc we are not ‘programme driven’ but seek to exercise ‘organised flexibility’ as we allow the Spirit to break in and lead.
- The integrity of the individual
We want people to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ and would seek to teach and guide them as Jesus instructed us to do, Matthew 28:18-20. We would not desire to impose truth but to help each one to explore and find for themselves the wonderful true teachings of Jesus.
- Reality not ‘religiosity’
We see no place for the putting on of ‘masks’. Sunday morning and Monday morning lifestyles must match. We see what happens ‘outside’ our building in Priory Lane in our homes and workplaces as important as what happens in it while we seek to build up people to be salt and light in society.
- Relevance to the day and age in which we live
We do not wish to repeat the past with its traditions but seek to be on the cutting edge of what God is doing today in the ‘now society’. We would seek to fulfil the ‘unchanging great commission’ in a way that engages the ‘now generation’
- The Family Unit
We would seek to respect, support and enhance family life recognising the worth of each family member from baby to granny. Our activities cover all ages.
- A Wide Scope of “Ministry” including
- Being a community regardless of age, gender, race, disability, wealth or education
- Having participators not just spectators. ‘To each grace has been given’
- Enabling every member to be placed and functioning
- Being Church 24/7
- Engaging actively in world mission including aiding the spread of the gospel, relief of suffering etc
- And much more!
