As a church we have some links with James Bank Hostel which is in the Dunfermline town centre. James Bank provides a number of services including emergency accommodation for people who are homeless. Despite the best efforts of James Bank they cannot accommodate everyone who requires a bed and this does mean that several people each night end up sleeping rough.
We want to try and see whether over the winter months we can do something which might at least make things a bit easier for the rough sleepers. When James bank cannot provide a bed they do try and give the people who will sleep rough a sleeping bag and flask with hot drink. Their supplies are limited and we want to see if we can provide items which can be given to people as they prepare to spend the night outside. Can you help – we want to try and provide.
- Flasks ( we have seen 0.5 litre flasks being sold in the bigger stores for between £1.99 and £2.49)
- Thermal socks
- Hats, gloves and scarves
- Pot noodles or soup
- Small packets of crackers (i.e. oatcakes to bulk up soup)
- Space blankets - in place of sleeping bags or to wear inside sleeping bags ( we got some space blankets on the internet for about £2.00 each)
If you can get any of the above please bring to the Church building or alternatively we can collect if that is easier for you.
If you need more info please contact the Church office.
